Staying at Nikko was a mixed bag. The location is perfect, right above the JR Sapporo station, making it incredibly convenient for exploring the city and surrounding areas. I loved the proximity to shopping and dining options, especially during the cold weather. The breakfast was superb with a vast array of choices, especially the homemade tofu and the delicious croffle. The hot spring on the higher floors was worth the extra charge, with nice amenities provided. On the downside, the rooms were rather small and the bathroom lacked quality touches typical of a five-star property. Moreover, sound insulation was poor. I could hear guests above me moving around late at night. The lobby felt cramped and lacked the welcoming vibe I expected. Overall, it has many strengths, but it also has notable areas for improvement.

The location was ideal for quick access to
the train station and shopping area, making it easy to explore Sapporo. The concierge staff were particularly exceptional, assisting us with reservations and recommendations, creating a genuinely enjoyable experience. However, breakfast choices suited Japanese tastes, so Western options felt limited.

The dining scene at Nikko was a delight! We were super close to a bunch of eateries like Tancho and Mister Donut for late-night snacks. Plus, the beautiful onsen-style bathroom made us feel like royalty. Staff were top-notch, too, handling everything from our bags to reservations with grace during our stay.
We were a bit puzzled by the parking payments—not super clear for us non-Japanese speakers. A handy pamphlet or valet could make things smoother for travelers.

The stay was really enjoyable, especially with the cozy room and the fantastic onsen experience which felt like a mini getaway from our busy day. Loved unwinding in the hot spring bath and sauna after exploring the area. Just a heads-up, the breakfast selection could be a bit more varied for a 5-star place. 😊

The location couldn't be better for our family with children, directly above the JR station and next to malls. We also indulged in the amazing breakfast buffet at the 35th floor restaurant, which had an incredible variety of delicious options.
My children wished there were more family-friendly activities available in the hotel.
